Aloha!
At the beginning of the summer, Hal went on a brilliant trek through Grizedale Forest. We were lucky enough to visit the forest on a fairly quiet day, only coming across a few other couples during our walk.
When arriving at Grizedale Forest, there is a forest map with a selection of routes to choose from. We chose the red route, Carron Crag Trail, which is described as "strenuous" and would take about 2 hours, but we were adamant it wouldn't be as hard as was being made out, so off we went!
The routes are marked out well, with small posts with different colours on, and you just follow your colour! There are many sculptures throughout Grizedale you can pose for a photo with or just take a needed breather. We soon realised Carron Crag Trail was described as "strenuous" because the first half is completely uphill! Be prepared.
A selling point of the red route is that it takes you to the highest point in Grizedale Forest, this is why it's mainly uphill, and the views when you reach there are amazing! Hal even made it to the top for some family selfies. However, it was extremely windy and I may have lost my sunglasses but at least it didn't rain!
When returning to Grizedale cafe we were pleasantly surprised to find the Go Ape! centre, whose shop is dog friendly, and the cafe had lots of outdoor seating. An even better surprise was to find that the cafe itself is also dog friendly so Hal could come in with us to choose our dinner, and even sit with us if we stayed indoors. He did take the opportunity to jump up at the sandwich counter and try to sniff a small child.
All in all, a great day! Super dog friendly, amazing views, and all 3 of us were ready for a nap when we reached home. Would definitely recommend for a brilliant day out with your pup!
